What We Believe
Our Basis of Faith
The Nicean Creed
I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God, from God; Light, from Light; True God, from True God; begotten not made, of one substance with the Father. Through Him all things were made, who for us men and for our salvation came down from Heaven, was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man. For us He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead and His Kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son together He is worshipped and glorified. He spoke through the prophets.
I believe in Christ’s holy universal and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Our Foundational Principles
The Five Solas of the Reformation
Sola Gratia - Grace Alone
Salvation from the judgment and condemnation of God that every human being deserves (because we are sinners) is a gift of grace from God. It has nothing to do with human merit.
ROMANS 3:10-12
Sola Scriptura - Scripture Alone
The 66-book Bible is the sole authority for Christians in faith, doctrine, and practice. Sola Scriptura acknowledges the facts that the Bible is the Word of God, inerrant, sufficient, without error, and the source of all truth
2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
Sola Fida - Faith Alone
The biblical truth that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions in the world. It is not by the believer’s works or efforts but by Christ’s work on the cross that a person is saved.
ROMANS 4:4-5
Solus Christus - Christ Alone
Salvation is found in Christ alone. No human being can forgive sins. It is Christ alone who saves.
JOHN 14:6
Soli Deo Gloria - To the Glory of God Alone
Salvation is wholly a work of God for His glory. Believers contribute nothing to their salvation. Because Christ is both Lord and Savior of believers, they are commanded to live their lives to glorify God.
